Well, an update on the fun snow day :-): We did get to go play with Daddy too - and he is the serious snowball-thrower and sledder! All that snow in Lincoln, Illinois, has not been forgotten! We didn't bring our sled to Madrid (remember: it "doesn't snow in Madrid"!), so we had to make do with what we have. :-)

A plastic clothes basket works pretty good once the snow is packed down :-) At first we just sledded with the basket on a small hill we found - away from everyone else - but the laughter from the good sledding hill across the street finally drew us.

It was so fun! Several of our neighbors were there and one of them took pity on us and lent us his proper sled. It was a great improvement :-) It was just really cool to be there in the middle of that hill, where moms, dads, and kids alike were all playing like kids in the snow! Jason also got in a really good snowball fight with some neighbor kids :-)
BTW - my parents did get out of town around 4:40. So unfortunately, their long day was made even longer - and sadly they will probably be spending the night in Newark. I know they would appreciate your prayers to get home safely and sanely! Oh and we found out what the problem was in their getting to the airport - they actually closed down all the roads leading into the airport! Just b/c the planes were unable to take off for a time. Crazy.
And just for grins - a short video of our wanna-be sled :-)

That's funny, Mandy, b/c I was thinking of you guys the whole time - we were trying to remember what had worked best for you when you had to make do! I was also wondering if you've ever gotten to use the real sleds - I was wishing I had bought some for us too :-)
